Help For The Sunday Scaries
Reflective questions, journal prompts and activities to help you cope
In this week’s episode of Hello Therapy (#47), I explored the phenomenon known as the Sunday Scaries/Sunday Blues, discussing its causes and providing multiple strategies to cope with it.
You can listen to the episode here.
Below you will find some questions to help you reflect on your own Sunday Scaries experience, and I have suggested some activities that can help you cope better and start to reclaim your weekend back!
1. Understanding Your Sunday Scaries
Reflect on the following questions posed by the episode:
Identify Your Feelings:
What specific emotions do you feel as Sunday evening approaches? (e.g., anxiety, dread, sadness)
Recognise Physical Symptoms:
Do you experience any physical symptoms along with your Sunday Scaries? (e.g., racing heart, difficulty sleeping)
Specific vs. Vague Anxiety:
Is your anxiety tied to a specific event (e.g., an exam, presentation) or is it a vague sense of dread?
Suggested activity:
Spend 5 minutes journaling about your typical Sunday evening. Focus on how you feel emotionally and physically, and note any specific thoughts or worries that come to mind.
